In this week of class our topic was about photography and photographers. We discussed how harmony is about creating a visualising appealing image in the use of colour, shape, form and more. We then discussed different photographers and their work.

Henri Cartier-Bresson

The first person wee looked at was Henri Cartier-Bresson who was nicknamed the Father of photojournalism because his work was what influenced street photography and it taught us a number of important lessons through it which in turn would create great photos. These were:

Alexander Rodchenko

Next, we looked at Aldxander Rodchenko and he was a painter and designer but encountered photography in his own way, experimenting with different angles such as “on the pavement” and different lighting “Girl with a Leica” which adds texture to the image. Keen use of diagonals in not only his photography but also in his designs which he is known for.

Joseph Niépce

Niépce was the first person to ever take a photo and it was from his window showing his courtyard and it was done so by the process which they called heliography however, it was soon overlooked when the daguerreotype process was invented which allowed for an average 8 hour process using the heliography process to happen in 30 minutes which was extraordinary.
